West Indies name squad to meet Pakistan in Sharjah Derrick Nicholas - 22 January 2002
The West Indies Cricket Board today announced the squad for the series against Pakistan to be contested in Sharjah between January 27th and February 18th, 2002. The 15-man squad, which is captained by Carl Hooper, sees the return of Barbadian opener Sherwin Campbell to the side. Campbell, who has been in the cricket wilderness since his last appearance for the West Indies during the tour of Australia in 2000/2001 along with Shivnarine Chanderpaul are the only changes to the team which toured Sri Lanka late last year. Also making a return to the squad is Mervyn Dillon, who was expelled from the tour of Sri Lanka. Dillon, who performed well during the only practice match the West Indies selectors had to use as a guide to the players' fitness and form, will lead the bowling attack. Wavell Hinds, who was granted leave from the tour of Sri Lanka to return for a family member's funeral, is also among the 15 players named. The full squad reads: Carl Hooper (captain), Ridley Jacobs (vice-captain), Darrell Brown, Sherwin Campbell, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Pedro Collins, Corey Collymore, Cameron Cuffy, Mervyn Dillon, Daren Ganga, Chris Gayle, Ryan Hinds, Wavell Hinds, Dinanath Ramnarine, Marlon Samuels. Reserves: Marlon Black, Ian Bradshaw, Leon Garrick, Keith Hibbert, Jermaine Lawson, Neil McGarrell and Dave Mohammed © CricInfo
