PCB clarifies press reports about delayed start of QEA match at LCCA ground
Pakistan Cricket Board - 23 January 2002

Responding to press reports about the delayed start of match at LCCA ground, PCB clarifies that the pitch prepared by LCCA for the match between Peshawar and LCCA (W) was not as per instructions of PCB. Hence, the Match Referee Mr. Ali Zia, chose the other pitch on 19th January, a day before the match was due to start. The change was not done on the morning of the match, as the press reports seem to indicate. However, on 20th January when the Umpires inspected the pitch there were few wet patches, due to over watering. The match therefore could not start due to the wet areas on the bowler run ups and not for reason as stated in the reports.
