Elliott named Bushrangers captain
Victorian Cricket Association - 24 January 2002
Bushrangers star batsman, Matthew Elliott has been named as captain of the Victorian Bushrangers for the remainder of season 2001/02. Brad Hodge was named vice-captain.
The VCA Board ratified the appointments last night after receiving a recommendation from the VCA Selection Committee.
Upon hearing of his appointment Elliott paid tribute to the man he replaced, Paul Reiffel. "I've played for many years alongside Paul and there have been few better players for Victoria. He's a quality person who will be sorely missed by the team, both as a player and leader".
"However the decision has been made and we need to focus our attention on the Pura Cup match against NSW. It's an honour to be named as captain of your state and I hope I can celebrate it with some runs in Sydney".
