The Zimbabwe Cricket Union has appointed sports broadcaster Lovemore Banda to its new post of Communications and Media Manager.

Banda, 39, joins the ZCU from the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, where he was manager of the sport and current affairs radio station Sport FM.

He joined the ZBC in 1988 from the University of Zimbabwe, where he graduated with a general Bachelor's Degree in Arts, a Special Honours in English and a Post Graduate Diploma in Media and Communications studies.

Banda also has certificates in Marketing and Advertising.

Peter Chingoka, Chairman of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union, welcomed the appointment of Lovemore Banda and said he brings a wealth of experience in Sports Journalism.

"In over a decade that he worked in the media, Banda has covered sports stories as far as from Australia to the then Zaire. This will be invaluable for his interaction with print and electronic Journalist at home and abroad, as he works to ensure that cricket is seen to be what it is: "Zimbabwe's leading sports discipline", said Chingoka.
