Mohammad Zahid
Wisden CricInfo staff - January 28, 2002
Wisden overview Tall, thin, balding and genuinely quick, Mohammad Zahid is one of Pakistan's more unfortunate stories. As a 20-year-old with a windmill action, he blitzed his way to 11 wickets against New Zealand at Rawalpindi to become
the only Pakistani to take a 10-for on debut. A month later, in the Carlton and United one-day tri-series in Australia, Brian Lara acknowledged him as the fastest bowler in the world. But a career that seemed so promising was halted by a serious back injury within six months of debut. Since then, he only managed a set of one-dayers against India, and a solitary Test against Australia that was remembered more for Mark Taylor's 334 not out than Zahid's 0 for 116. Another lease of life arrived in the form of a recall to the Test squad for a series against the West Indies in early 2002.
