The recently appointed EP Cricket provisional judicial managers, Kevin Helm and Cliff Louw met last evening with their Advisory Council and EPCB CEO, Dave Emslie.

In a very thorough and well received presentation, Emslie updated the group with respect to the operational side of EP Cricket. The group were impressed by the complexity of the system and recognized the need to identify those areas that require immediate attention as a result of neglect in the past.

During the course of the next few weeks task teams will be set up and on a dedicated and specific basis develop plans that will see EP Cricket moving forward.

"It is my vision to restore the pride, passion and confidence that the public of Port Elizabeth once had in EP Cricket" said Helm.

On a more general basis the group has also set itself certain objectives which they regard as key issues going into the future. These objectives/areas of focus are as follows".

  • To ensure that financial disciplines are put in place and that the EPCB is able to pay its debts in the normal course of business.
  • To attend to successful restructuring of the EPCB into professional and amateur divisions and to make the necessary constitutional changes so as to ensure the successful management of EP Cricket.
  • To ensure that we field a competitive side capable of winning the majority of its games.
  • To ensure the successful hosting of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003.
  • To support the CEO and full time staff by providing the vision and guidance for the successful administration of EP Cricket.
