South African squad announced for Africa Cup in Lusaka Bronwyn Wilkinson - 24 July 2002
The National Selectors have named a side combining youth and experience to take part in the African Cricket Association's Africa Cup in Lusaka in September. The South African team:
Ahmed Amla - Captain - KwaZulu-Natal The convenor of national selectors, Omar Henry, said: "We have chosen a team that we believe will do very well in the Cup. It combines several players with first-class experience with players who are coming through and who played in the Under 19 World Cup last year." The tournament takes place in Lusaka, Zambia, from 1-8 September and some of the countries competing include Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania and Uganda. The Cup is held every second year and South Africa last won it in Zimbabwe in 1997.
