Garaway hoping for better weather in Blackpool
Richard Walsh - 15 June 2002

Somerset Seconds had to settle for a draw from their rain ruined four day championship match against Gloucestershire at the County ground in Bristol earlier this week.

On the last day Gloucestershire declared their first innings on 60 for 4, and then Somerset put on 130 without loss in their second innings before they declared, with Piran Holloway making an unbeaten 80.

In their second innings Gloucestershire had moved onto 174 for 5 before the game was declared a draw, with Graham Rose ending with 2 for 20.

The Somerset second string travel north early next week where they take on Lancashire at Blackpool on Tuesday.

Seconds coach Mark Garaway told me: " Lets just hope that the weather in the north west is going to be better than it has been down here recently and we get a full game in. Gloucestershire put out a strong side against us, and it is likely that Lancashire will do the same , which will be another good test for our youngsters."
