The Oval Surrey 369 v Kent 153 and 200 for 7
Surrey were on the verge of an innings win after Kent lost five wickets before lunch, with Ed Giddins and Saqlain Mushtaq taking two apiece.

Edgbaston Warwickshire 462 v Leicestershire 305 for 5
A dogged 69* from Grant Flower kept Warwickshire at bay after Darren Stevens fell early to Dougie Brown for 38. It was Warwickshire's only success as Neil Burns (46*) joined Flower in an unbroken sixth wicket stand of 78.

Headingley Sussex 435 v Yorkshire 208 for 7
There was no play before lunch at Headingley with an inspection due at 2.00pm.

Chester-le-Street Durham 195 for 4 v Worcestershire 250
Another delayed start with an inspection due at 3.00pm.

Ilford Essex 498 for 9 v Northamptonshire 204 & 19 for 0
Essex wasted little time in taking the remaining five Northants wickets and enforcing the follow-on with a deficit of 294. Ashley Cowan did the damage, grabbing three wickets to finish with figures of 4 for 62. Northants openers Mike Hussey and Adrian Rollins survived unscathed until the interval.

Lord's Middlesex v Glamorgan 326 for 7
Michael Powell hit 122 as Glamorgan made slow progress at a wet Lord's. Former skipper Matthew Maynard missed out on a hundred when he was caught behind off Aaron Laraman for 90 after a stand of 188 with Powell.

Trent Bridge Nottinghamshire 393 v Derbyshire 392
Derbyshire resticted Nottinghamshire's first innings lead to a single run thanks to Chris Bassano's 64 and a typically aggressive 43 by Mohammad Ali. Richard Logan and Nadeem Malik took three wickets each.

Durham Durham UCCE 242 for 7 v Lancashire 279 for 5
The match was abandoned as a draw after heavy rain ruled out the possibility of any play
