East Asia-Pacific: EAP Advisory Committee to give region a collective voice

The East Asia-Pacific region is to have its own regional body.
The biennial meeting of the ICC's East Asia-Pacific Development Conference
in late January approved the establishment of an informal committee intended
to advise on and represent the interests of its various countries.
The East Asia-Pacific Cricket Advisory Committee will meet at the EA-P
Development Conference, and possibly every other year if needed.
Additionally the four members of the Committee would continue to liase as
issues arose.
The Committee is structured so a representative of both of the region's Full
Members, Australia and New Zealand, the region's Associate members and the
region's Affiliate members each have one vote.
The four representatives on the committee are:
Chairman & Australian Cricket Board representative - Trevor Robertson
(ACB Director & Game Development Chairman)
New Zealand Cricket representative - Alec Astle (NZC Development
Manager)
Associate members (Fiji & PNG) representative - Peter Knight (Fiji CA
Secretary)
Affiliate members representative (Cook Islands, Indonesia, Japan,
Philippines, Samoa, South Korea, Tonga & Vanuatu) - Mark Stafford (Vanuatu
CA President).
Mr. Robertson will act as Chairman on the Committee where all four members
have equal say. Where all voting members are deadlocked, the Chairman has
the casting vote. The Regional Development Manager is a non-voting member.
It was agreed that the Committee's broad purposes and terms of reference would be:
To represent the regional position of all EAP countries on global ICC
development matters, as required by the Global Development Manager or at ICC
Development Committee meetings
To represent the regional position of all EAP countries in regard to
taking/advising of Regional positions on regional ICC development matters,
as required by the Regional Development Manager
To act as a focal point for the key involvement of Australia and New
Zealand in the ICC EAP Development Program
To consider applications for, and appointment of, host venues for ICC
EAP Tournaments
To review/provide feedback on draft budget preparations by the Regional
Development Manager
To continually monitor/provide feedback on the activity/operations of
the Regional Development Manager, Regional Development Officer, and all
policies, programs and initiatives of the EAP Development Program
To liaise with the member countries they are representing to undertake
all of the above appropriately.
It is not intended at this stage that the Committee would be a formal entity
similar to the Cricket Council of the Americas or the Asian Cricket Council,
however the recommendation does not preclude the possibility in future
should it be deemed appropriate.
