Four wicket Tapper puts Lymo in Semis
Trevor Phillips - 16 March 2002

Lymington and Bashley made it safely through to the last four of the 25th Anniversary cup wth comfortable wins over Brockenhurst and Paultons respectively.

Peter Tapper was the star for Lymington, grabbing 4-15 as injury-hit Brock were shot out for 62, giving Lymington a huge 75 run victory. Earlier Tapper had also contributed with the bat, scoring 37 in a Lymington total of 137-5.

Lymington now take on a Cadnam side who also had a comfortable passage to the semi finals. Paul Kerley's unbeaten 27 helped them to a 3 wicket first round victory over New Milton, and then brother Neil registered 28 not out as Cadnam swept to a 42 run win over Swan Green in the quarter final.

Bashley will take on Esso in the other semi final following their 26 run victory over Paultons. Neil Taylor struck an unbeaten 30 in Bash's 110-4 (Mark Weaver 3-36), before the bowling sensation that is Shaun Lilley took 2 wickets as Paultons were dismissed for just 84.

Esso cruised past North Baddesley in the remaining quarter final clash. The league runners-up were never in the hunt after Esso took early wickets. Only Mark Heritage (23) made a score of note as Baddesley were bowled out for 93.

Steve Rice then hit an unbeaten 26 as Esso sealed their place in the last four with five wickets to spare.

The semi-finals and final take place this Sunday at Lymington Sports Centre from 3pm.
