Laden Gamiet
Wisden CricInfo staff - March 7, 2002
Wisden overview A contemporary of Mark Boucher's at Selborne College in East London, Laden Gamiet was a surprise selection for the South African Test squad in March 2002, plucked from nowhere after Daryll Cullinan withdrew his services following a contractual dispute. A dashing strokemaker, and a gifted hockey-player in his youth, Gamiet's first-class average of 19 does not do justice to his talent. He owed his elevation to 12th-man status as much to his superb fielding as to the fact that Border did not have a match scheduled for the week of the second Test against Australia. Andrew Miller
