Muralitharan joins Sri Lankan team at Lord's
Stephen Lamb - 19 May 2002
Muttiah Muralitharan watched the fourth day's play of the first Teat at Lord's from the visitors' dressing room balcony. Sri Lanka's top off-spinner arrived from Australia last night, where he has had treatment for a partial dislocation and tendon damage to his left shoulder.
"He is in good spirits and looks forward to playing as soon as possible," said team manager Chandra Schaffter.
"He has been wearing a small sling but that has now been removed. His injury
will be assessed again in four days' time."
Meanwhile it's been confirmed that umpires Venkat and Daryl Harper, who are standing in the Lord's Test, have made no report concerning the action of the Sri lankan fast bowler, Ruchira Perera.
Perera's action has come under television scrutiny over the past two days, and was called into question by Channel Four commentator Dermot Reeve.
