'Somerset very positive' says Shine ahead of big clash
Richard Walsh - 23 May 2002

Somerset will be strengthened by the inclusion of Andy Caddick and Marcus Trescothick, and the return to full fitness of Steffan Jones to face table topping Surrey at The Oval tomorrow.

Already the Cidermen have beaten last years champions Yorkshire with a day to spare were unlucky not to have repeated the performance against Leicestershire last weekend. Surrey have also got off to a flying start by winning all three of their matches.

Kevin Shine told me earlier today: "The inclusion of Andy and Marcus and the return of Steffan Jones has added to our strengths, and we are delighted to have them all back."

He continued: "We are going into this game with a very positive outlook. Over the last couple of season's we haven't competed very well at The Oval, and this will be a challenge for us to put that right."

"Andy is going to run in hard for us as he always does, and he has had some great spells for England at The Oval. Marcus had a hundred for us in his last championship game and seventy for England last weekend. The only piece of the jigsaw that is missing is Richard Johnson and he is on track for a return in the NUL game against Warwickshire at Edgbaston on June 9th."
