PCB chairman congratulates Inzamam and Steve Bucknor
Pakistan Cricket Board - 2 May 2002

The PCB Chairman, Lt Gen. Tauqir Zia has congratulated Inzamam-ul-Haq on scoring a magnificent triple hundred, 329 to be exact against New Zealand in the first Test of the two match rubber at Lahore, "Inzamam indeed is the best Pakistani batsman of his generation and one of the top most in the world at the moment. He again exhibited his class, awesome power and tenacity in scoring the triple hundred", said the PCB Chairman.

"This is only the second triple century by a Pakistani, and has come nearly 44 years after Hanif Mohammad's marathon 337 in the Caribbean in 19577-58. We at the PCB are proud and happy at Inzamam's achievement, and we are positive that now he is close to his peak he would be contributing quite a few big scores", said Tauqir Zia.

"When he was recently struggling to put together a big score, we were sure that a big one from the big man is just round the corner. A team man to the core, Inzamam is our key batsman in the run-up to the 2003 World Cup, and I am sure not just his mates but every Pakistani would have enjoyed this tremendous innings from a remarkable batsman. Enjoy yourself and keep it up, Inzi", concluded the PCB Chairman.

Chairman PCB also greeted Test Umpire Steve Bucknor of West Indies in equallying the record of umpire Dickie Bird of England in standing for 66 Test matches.
