Gough unlikely to make Lord's Test
CricInfo - 8 May 2002

Darren Gough has revealed that he's not expecting to take part in the first Test against Sri Lanka, which starts on May 16 at Lord's.

Gough has been struggling with a knee problem for the past two months, and has not played a first team game for Yorkshire since he left New Zealand in early March after taking part in the one-day series for England.

"It's unrealistic to say I will be at Lord's," Gough told BBC radio. "I'm playing in a second team game, bowling five or six overs a spell."

Sri Lanka will be without their champion off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan for the first, and almost certainly the second Test after he tore ligaments in his left shoulder in April.
