Pakistan confirm Zimbabwe tour Wisden CricInfo staff - May 23, 2002
Pakistan will play two Tests and five one-day internationals on their tour of Zimbabwe in November-December this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced. The will also play five one-day matches and two Tests in South Africa between December 3 and January 6. Pakistan, who face a home series drought after security concerns, will open the tour with a three-day warm-up game in Harare from November 4 before the first Test at the same venue from November 9-13. The second Test will be played at Bulawayo from November 16-20. The first two limited overs internationals are scheduled at Bulawayo on November 23 and 24 while the remaining three one-dayers will be staged at Harare on November 27, 30 and December 1. Pakistan will then cross the border to play five one-day matches and two Tests in South Africa between December 3 and January 6. Cricket organisers in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, are also planning to host a three-nation one-day tournament in January involving Pakistan and two other teams yet to be decided, PCB officials said. If the tournament does not happen, then Pakistan will remain in South Africa to prepare for the World Cup starting there on February 8, the board said.
