Captain Rahul Sharma, who made 33, and Adam Smith, who made 34, were the men who laid the foundation for the win. With Afzal Haider contributing an unbeaten 19 off five ball, the hosts succeeding in eking out a last-ball win. Earlier, skipper Khuram Khan made 34 while opener Asim Saeed weighed in with 34, as UAE made 99-1. Sharma was again the star performer for the hosts, conceding just eight runs in the last over of the UAE innings, despite the batsmen attempting to go after him. He also had the satisfaction of snaring Ahmed Nadeem with his third ball, after the latter had made 14 off five balls. The 42-year-old, who happens to be most experienced Sixes player in the current tournament, will now be hoping to reprise his match-winning role and lead his team to victory in the Plate Cup final too. © CricInfo
