Standard Bank Cup kicks off Keith Lane - 7 November 2002
The Domestic One-Day Tournamnet, The Standard Bank Cup, gets under way on Friday night 8th November, when the Free State Eagles take on the Highveld Strikers in Bloemfontein, and the North West Dragons take on Easterns in Potchefstroom. The first-class season being completed, with Easterns the new Champions, sees the South African players going into a shortened limited overs season in preparation for the World Cup. The competition is divided into two sections, Pool A consisting of: North West, Easterns, Griqualand West, Northerns, KwaZulu-Natal and Border. Pool B consists of: Free State, Gauteng, Eastern Province, Boland, Western Province and Namibia making their first appearance in the competition. © CricInfo Ltd
