Dawn Arif and Imran play sterling knocks

Arif Mahmood and Imran Javed stole batting honours as Total Energy defeated Mohammad Hussain CC by 14 runs in the Aga Khan Gymkhana Ramazan Cricket Tournament at AKG Ground here Tuesday.

Arif plundered 76 off only 52 deliveries and Imran hit 73 off 58 balls as the pair added 140 for the third wicket to help Total Energy pile up 206 for eight in their 25 overs.

Arif scored exactly 50 runs in boundaries, smashing eight fours and three sixes. Imran lashed four sixes and as many fours.

Opener Faisal Mirza made 35 off 30 balls with five fours and one six.

Leg-spinner Umar Farooqui claimed three for 33, pacer Athar Laeeq two for 30 and slow left-armer Aqeel Sharif two for 36.

Mohammad Hussain CC, in reply, mustered 192 for five in 25 overs. Left-handed opening batsman Agha Sabir excelled for them with a fine 79 off 60 balls. His knock was embellished with five fours and a brace of sixes.

Off-spinners Haaris Ayaz and Mansoor Khan took two wickets apiece, for 35 and 30 runs respectively.

MOHAMMAD HUSSAIN CC 192-5 in 25 overs (Agha Sabir 79, Aamir Iqbal 35, Saad Umar 28; Mansoor Khan 2-30, Haaris Ayaz 2-35).
