Despite being relegated in both the County Championship and the National League, Somerset County Cricket Club have announced a post tax profit of £61,911 for the year ended September 30th 2002.

Recently chief executive Peter Anderson spoke out stating that cricket in Somerset and across the South West in general is in a healthy state, and these figures bear this out.

Commenting upon the figures, Chief Executive Peter Anderson said, "Somerset has to live within its means but this result illustrates that cricket is a growth sport in Somerset and the South West at all levels"

Membership income increased by 15.6% and the net income of £427,395 represents 13.6% of the Club turnover, which increased to £3,133,099.

There was also an increase in receipts for all home matches. Championship match receipts increased by 7.5% the one-day NUL matches by 15%.

In 2002 the Club also spent £248,000 on its youth development programmes, which bodes well for the future of Somerset County Cricket Club.

With the full fixture list having been published and new membership campaign just being launched, coupled with the prospect of some new signings Cidermen supporters are already relishing the prospect of the 2003 season which gets underway on April 13th.
