PCB issues ACC coaching course details

ASIAN CRICKET COUNCIL
PRESS RELEASE

A special Coaching Course for the Coaches under the auspices of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will be held in Lahore between October, 21 and 28. Former South African Cricket Team Coach Bob Woolmer is the Course Tutor.

Woolmer, who is the High Performance Manager of the ICC, will be accompanied by his three assistants - Justin Durandt, Sheryl Calder and Clinton Gahweiler. There will be a team of six ACC official who will also pass on valuable tips to the coaches. The notable in the delegation are Iqbal Sikander (Pakistan), Roger Binny (India), Rumesh Ratnayake (Sri Lnka) and Dr. Vece Paes (UAE).

Around 19 coaches from Malaysia, Qatar, Maldives, Oman, Hong Kong, Singapore, Nepal, UAE, Kuwait, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will attend the clinic in which they will be briefed upon role of the coach, physiology (both practical and theory), vision in cricket, batting (both practical and theory), batting assignments, bowling actions, fast bowling, swing bowling, spin bowling, bowling game plans, one day cricket skills, field placing and innovation, multi-day cricket skills, wicket keeping, fielding drills, group coaching, and net coaching etc.

One the opening day on October 21, Mr. Zakir Hussain Syed, Development Manager of the ACC, Mr. Andrew Eade, ICC Global Development perspective, and Bob Woolmer will make the opening speeches before Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia, who will inaugurate the course, being the Chief Guest. Mr. Ehsan Mani will be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony.

The following coaches will attend the course:- Mr. V. Vijayalingam (Malaysia), Mr. Sohail Pasha (Qatar), Mr. Ibrahim Hussain (Maldives), Mr. Mohammad Asim (Oman), Mr. Tabarak Dar (Hong Kong), Mr. Brendon Kuruppu (Singapore), Mr. Sunoj Bhattarai (Nepal), Mr. Mohammad Hyder (UAE), Mr. Abyub Sheikh (Kuwait), Mr. Hemantha Devapriya (Sri Lanka), Mr. Haroon Rasheed, Mr. Shahid Aslam, Mr. Farrukh Zaman, Mr. Raj Hans, Mr. Rashid Khan, Mr. Azhar Khan, Mr. Jalaluddin (all from Pakistan).

The former Chairman PCB, journalists, local cricketers and PCB officials have been invited to attend the inaugural ceremony. The contact person for any queries/regrets is Major Ahmed Anwar, Manager Cricket Operations PCB at Lahore.
