West Indies v South Africa, 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 9, 2002

At Bridgetown, May 9. South Africa won by seven wickets. Toss: South Africa. More inept West Indian batting allowed South Africa to clinch the series. Even though Lara hit his highest score of the season, 92 from 125 balls with nine fours, West Indies still could not raise a challenging total. Kallis took four wickets, but Pollock's economy – his ten overs cost just 23 – and Gibbs's fielding – a direct hit to run out Chanderpaul and a stunning low, right-handed catch at cover to account for Jacobs – were just as influential. Gibbs then compiled his second hundred of the series, reaching 2,000 one-day international runs in the process; three sixes and 12 fours helped him to 107 off 132 balls. As in the previous match, Dippenaar hit the winning runs, this time with more than eight overs to spare.
Man of the Match: H. H. Gibbs.
