South Africa v Sri Lanka 2000-01
Wisden CricInfo staff - October 18, 2002
At Cape Town, January 11 (day/night). South Africa won by 99 runs. Toss: South Africa. South Africa secured the series 4–0 from a match which, as a contest, was over before the halfway point. Dippenaar square cut and drove well for his second successive half-century, and Rhodes later notched up his fifth: one against New Zealand and four in this series. Meanwhile, Kallis followed his century two days earlier with a mighty 82 from 79 balls – four sixes but no fours – that took him past 4,000 runs in one-day internationals. Vaas emerged with credit and three for 44 from ten overs, but otherwise the hosts trampled their way to 290 for seven, a ground record. Kaluwitharana prevented complete embarrassment with a defiant 74, but lost partners. Ntini's hostile accuracy claimed five wickets.
Man of the Match: M. Ntini.
