Will House to retire from cricket Sussex CCC Media Release - 3 September 2002
Will announced his retirement from cricket this evening after having played his last match for Sussex, an NUL floodlit match against the Hampshire Hawks. The Club will be sad to lose Will as he is a very popular member of the staff and has contributed much to Sussex cricket during his time at Hove. Frustrated by a lack of opportunity Will has decided to focus on new challenges outside of cricket. He will remain in the Brighton area and is to take up a job in London working for a finance consultancy. Speaking of his decision Will stated: "I've had three great years with Sussex and loved every minute. I'm sure I'll miss cricket and the camaraderie of the team but now feels the right time to move on with the next phase of my life. "Tonight will always remain in my memory as a very special game, and it was particularly nice to score the winning runs with a six!" Peter Moores, coach of Sussex CCC, added:" It is always a sad time when a cricketer decides to call it a day, we wish Will the very best of luck with his new career and it is great that he is remaining in Brighton and has every intention to keep close links with the Club." © Sussex CCC
