ICC Trophy 1979 - Background

The 1979 ICC Trophy was played at various grounds in the English 
Midlands (in and around Birmingham mainly) in late May and early
June 1979. The 2 finalists qualified for the 1979 World Cup 
which was held in England between the Semi Finals and Final of 
the ICC Trophy. Hong Kong, West Africa and Gibraltar were ICC 
members who did not enter for various reasons. Wales were not an
ICC member but made up the numbers without being able to qualify.
