The Dutch joined ICC Trophy finalists Kenya and the United Arab Emirates in qualifying for the World Cup, which will be held in Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka. The Dutch, put in to bat at the Simba Union ground, hit 306 for two in their 50 overs and then dismissed Bermuda for 203 in 42.2 overs. West Indian-born opener Nolan Clarke provided the backbone of the Dutch innings with his third century of the tournament. Clarke scored 121 not out from 141 balls and hit a six and 10 fours. Dutch captain Steve Lubbers struck a belligerent 81 and Flavian Aponso made 53. Clarke and Aponso put on 114 for the first wicket in 26 overs before Aponso was dismissed. Lubbers boosted the run rate, racing to 50 with a succession of violent strokes. He and Clarke added 138 for the second wicket in 19 overs. When Lubbers fell, Tim DeLeede blasted 32 not out off just 21 balls. Clay Smith and Dexter Smith gave Bermuda a glimmer of hope, adding 53 for the second wicket. But when Clay Smith drilled a catch to Lubbers at mid-off in the 16th over, the contest was over. Bermuda went down playing shots. Seven players reached double figures but nobody threatened to play the long innings they needed. Dexter Smith was top-scorer with 39. Lubbers won the man-of-the-match award, bowling 10 overs of off spin and taking one for 40 after his fine innings. Kenya face the UAE in the ICC Trophy final on Sunday at Ruaraka.
