1996 World Cup Profile:

Aamir Sohail has filled in the spot of the attacking opener that Pakistan have lacked since the days of Mohsin Khan and Majid Khan. His consistency and responsibility in getting the innnings off to a stable start has cemented Aamir Sohail`s place in the team. His batting style reflects a strong bottom hand in every stroke, defensive or attacking. Aamir`s high back-lift stance appears to be a mirrored image of Graham Gooch`s. Hailing from Lahore, Aamir is an experienced first class player, and has gradually risen to international stature. His oneday international debut against India in October 1991, and his Test debut against England in the summer of 1992 immediately displayed the promise he held for Pakistan`s top order batting. With Saeed Anwar, Aamir forms a rare left-handed opening pair that has the ability to build the foundations of an innings without compromising crowd entertainment!
