1996 World Cup Profile:

Mushtaq Ahmed`s bouncy delivery style brings back the glorious memories of his predecessor and mentor, Abdul Qadir, one of the best leg-spinners cricket has known. Mushtaq has always toiled hard and performed consistently to keep alive the art of leg-spin in the Pakistan team. Mushtaq`s performance in the World Cup of 1992 played a key role in Pakistan`s victory as he mesmerized England`s top-order batting in the final. Mushtaq has never thus far received justice from Pakistan`s selectors and he has been under constant pressure to keep his place in the team. He quelled all doubts in his stature as a world class spinner in the 1995-96 Pakistan tour to Australia and New Zealand, getting 28 wickets in his last three Test matches. With Mark Taylor calling his bowling "the best leg spin" he has faced, Mushtaq has shown that he too can join Shane Warne in reviving the glory of leg-spin in world cricket.
