1996 World Cup Profile:

Rashid Latif`s keen eye and reflexes, and the opportunity to keep wickets in face of the pace and swing of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, have made him a prolific performer behind the stumps. Making his debut against England in the away tour of 1992 when Wasim and Waqar were in full force, Rashid quickly etablished his competence for the stressful and thankless job of a wicketkeeper. Despite Rashid`s temporary "retirement" in mid 1995 due to administrative problems within the Pakistan cricket setup, he has now resumed his development into becoming one of the best wicketkeepers in the world today, and looks set to enter the category of Pakistan`s great Wasim Bari. Rashid is also a dependable right-handed bat in the lower middle order in both Test and One-day cricket, and has been called many a time to stop Pakistan`s all too familiar batting collapses.
