1996 World Cup Profile:

Jacques Kallis burst onto the domestic scene in South Africa during the 1994-95 season. An extremely talented batsmen who possess all the shots in the book, Kallis made his test and one-day debut for South Africa during the 1995-96 season. His entry into test cricket has been slightly tougher than that of the one day format. At the tender age of 20, Kallis has shown great maturity. His batting is very fluent, he favours driving the ball but is equally comfortable cutting and pulling. He is also a good fielder and a better than average medium pace bowler with the ability to break troublesome partnerships.
