1996 World Cup Profile:

Craig Matthews, the vice-captain of the South African squad is a medium-fast bowler of unerring accuracy. Always bowling in the channel of off-stump and outside, Matthews often frustrates batsmen into false strokes. He often opens the bowling for South Africa in one-day internationals and seldom goes for more than four runs per over. Matthews is also a good lower order batsmen and has made useful runs in test as well as one-day cricket. Like all South African fast bowlers he is an excellent fielder possesing a strong arm when fielding in the deep and good catching ability when fielding in the slips or at gully.
