1996 World Cup Profile:

The diminutive right handed wicket-keeper batsman exploded back into the forefront of the international scene during Sri lankas 1995 tour of AUstralia. Although he scored a scintillating century on debut against Australia in 1992, until recently he was unable to fully command a regular place in the side. However his tremendous success, both as a wicketkeeper and as an opener, on the recent Australian tour have ensured his continued presence. His exuberant, dashing style has won the hearts of many a fan, and has now proven capable of destroying the hearts of many a bowler.
