1996 World Cup Profile:

The captain of the UAE squad, he was the first UAE national to play cricket at the international level. A right-arm leg-break and googly bowler with deceptive flight, he he learned the basic rudiments of game during his schooldays in Pakistan. His greatest success as captain has been in leading the UAE to 12 straight victories in the ICC Trophy to qualify for World Cup though late- ly his captaincy has been under some shadow after a poor perfor- mance of the UAE team in the 3-nation tourney in Kenya in Feb `95.
