1996 World Cup Profile:

Barbados` captain and wicket-keeper, Browne replaced Junior Murray as West Indies` first line `keeper during the tour of England in summer of 1995. Not known for powerful strokeplay, Browne has however succeeded in hitting Devon Malcolm over square-leg for a six in England, proving that power isn`t everything. His resolute batting may prove essential during late order collapses but it is with his excellent keeping that he will effect West Indies` chances during the World Cup. Regarded by many West Indians as the safest gloves in the region, he has proved himself time and again during recent tours to be a topclass
