1996 World Cup Profile:

Shrivnarine Chanderpaul has made the most of the opportunites offered to him in the West Indies team. A young left handed bat, his style is based on a sound defence, and a limited range of strokes. Brought into the representative team whilst still in his teens, he has shown a maturity beyond his years, has consistently scored runs, and is very hard to dismiss. His abilty to build a major innings has been confirmed by his recent triple century for Guyana, and he brings a much needed stabilty to the West Indies middle order. He bowls quick, flat leg-breaks with some success in domestic cricket, but has been little bowled at the reperesentative level.
