The First Chat
The first of the many chats was held on Saturday, April 29 2000 with the noted
cricket coach Dav Whatmore.
Find out what Dave Whatmore had to say. [Video Clips | Full Transcript]
Born in Colombo in 1954, Dav Whatmore played for Victoria and also represented
Australia in Test Matches and One Day Internationals in the late seventies.
After retiring from first class cricket, he took to coaching
and was instrumental in turning Sri Lanka into a winning combination, culminating
with Sri Lanka winning the World Cup in 1996.
The next year, he went on to coach Lancashire. He was also one
of the coaches interviewed by the England Cricket Board to coach
the England team, but Whatmore ended up going back to Sri Lanka
to try and help Sri Lanka get back to its winning ways, after their
poor performance in the 1999 World Cup.
