CricInfo recently polled its users on the year's Test cricket. Published below are the results of the three awards which were voted on.

In excess of 3,000 entries were received from around the world to the survey, which was sponsored by Ladbrokes.

The survey encompassed the 37 Test matches from the end of the ICC Knockout in October 2001 to the start of India's series in South Africa in September 2001.

CRICINFO PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Winner: Andy Flower, Zimbabwe 30.4%
Second: Adam Gilchrist, Australia 23.3%
Third: Muttiah Muralitharan, Sri Lanka 17.1%
Fourth: Glenn McGrath, Australia 6.45%
Fifth: Steve Waugh, Australia 5.8%

CRICINFO MATCH OF THE YEAR
Winner: India v Australia, 2nd Test, Kolkata Buy the Video! 55.4%
Second: India v Australia, 3rd Test, Chennai 22.2%
Third: Pakistan v England, 3rd Test, Karachi 12.0%
Fourth: West Indies v South Africa, 2nd Test, Port of Spain 3.5%
Fifth: Sri Lanka v England, 3rd Test, Colombo 3.2%

CRICINFO PERFORMANCE OF THE YEAR
Winner: VVS Laxman 59 and 281 v Australia, 2nd Test at Kolkata 52.3%
Second: Andy Flower 199* and 142 v South Africa 1st Test at Harare 17.9%
Third: Mark Butcher 173* v Australia, 4th Test at Headingley 8.8%
Fourth: Harbhajan Singh hat-trick v Australia, 2nd Test at Kolkata 4.8%
Fifth: Glenn McGrath 6-17 and 4-10 v West Indies, 1st Test at Brisbane 2.9%

Users were also asked for their opinions on the current state of Test cricket. There was a phenomenal response to this question, with a wide range of interesting and informed comments aired. A selection of these will be published over the coming weeks.
