The MacLaurin Report

Who is Lord MacLaurin?

On September 15 the First-Class Counties will vote on whether to accept the proposals in Lord MacLaurin's report - "Raising the Standard". If they agree with his proposals the changes made will be the biggest ever in English cricket's 200 year history.

Lord MacLaurin was previously in charge of running Tesco, one of the major UK supermarkets. He also has past connections with cricket having previously played for Kent 2nd XI. He became Chairman of the ECB (English and Wales Cricket Board) in January 1997 when it was reformed from the old Test and County Cricket Board.

He chaired the English Cricket Management Board, a working party set up earlier in the year. Since the announcement of it's report on Tuesday 5th August he has attended the Canterbury Cricket Festival week and said that "this is an example of the cricket festival which he wants to ensure is preserved".
