The MacLaurin ReportWhat happens next[Go Back to Main Index] The report was announced on Tuesday 5th August. From then until September 15th there was a consultation period. This is to allow all the first-class counties the time to discuss andexamine the proposals in detail. Most first-class counties have consulted their members either through special meetings, committee groups or via letters sent to the club. The counties actually voted at a meeting during mid-afternoon on September 15th at Lord's Cricket Ground. They decided to throw out all the proposed changes to the county championship; both the three conference system and the other idea of two divisions. There were also changes made to the Sunday League schedule for 1999 onwards and to the way the draw is made for the first round of the Natwest Trophy. We now await the release from the ECB of the fixture list for 1998 - this is obviously expected later than usual due to all the recent meetings. Keep checking these pages on CricInfo for further details. Contributed by William.Turrell (william@cricinfo.com) |
