Kent Cricket News ----------------------------- www.kent.cricket.org ---------- Mon 17 Aug 1998 Gloucestershire v Kent at Bristol Gloucestershire 142 and 456, Kent 163 & 297 Kent's 6-man unbeaten run has come to an end after they lose to Gloucestershire by an innings and 138 runs at Bristol earlier today. Set 436 to win, Kent were only able reach 297 before losing their last wicket. Carl Hooper was the mainstay of the innings making 111 (50 over his runs came in boundary). Kent might have had a better chance of winning had they been able to dismiss Gloucestershire for less than the 456 they made in their second innings; but without Dean Headley and Mark Ealham (on international duty) the side was always going to be a weakened one. Kent now prepare for their next championship, at home to Worcestershire at the St.Lawrence Ground, Canterbury on Wednesday. See www.kent.cricket.org for the scorecard and a full report from The Daily Telegraph. ----------------------------------------------- Woolwich Kent Cricket League The Mote lead the league after this weekend's matches which saw wins for them and St.Lawrence and Highland Court, who are in second place. St.Lawrence have the upper hand however, with more games left to play than the Maidstone club. -----------------------------------------------
