Happy New Year!

On behalf of everyone at CricInfo we would sincerely like to wish all 
our users a Happy New Year for 1999 and thank you for your loyalty in 
1998.  The next twelve months promise to be very busy, with the one 
day series in Australia, the World Cup in England and major 
changes to the English domestic cricket programme.  You can be rest 
assured that we will continue to provide full coverage of cricket 
both in Kent and internationally throughout 1999.



Update on Kent's 1999 Overseas Player

Kent have said they will not be making a decision on the choice 
of overseas player until the world-cup squads are announced in 
February 1999. 

Speaking on BBC Radio Kent, new captain Matthew Fleming said the 
county also had to assume they would be without Dean Headley for much 
of the summer following his heroic performance in Melbourne. Kent 
still have McCague and Phillips, but the lack of Headley, plus 
possibly Mark Ealham, will undoubtedly be a big blow for the county.

England have selected spinner Ashley Giles - who arrived in Australia 
just 6 days ago with the one-day squad. More news at
