Kent Cricket News ------------------------------------------------- http://www.kent.cricket.org ----------------------- Sun 03 Jan 1999 Australia v England, 5th Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground At the end of Sunday's play Australia had a lead of 115 with all their second innings wickets intact - after England's were bowled out for 220. Only John Crawley showed any real confidence at playing the onslaught of spin-bowling, making 44. It was Stuart MacGill who dominated the headlines, taking 5 for 57, including the wicket of Kent's pace bowler Dean Headley who was caught by McGrath for 8. MacGill greatly outbowled Shane Warne, who on his return to Test cricket took only one wicket, that of Mark Butcher, with his fourth ball. Seven overs of the Australian innings were possible before close of play, two of them bowled by Dean Headley, who conceded 4 runs. Taylor and Slater put on 13 runs in that time - to increase their lead to 115 and take complete control of the match.
