Kent Cricket News ------------------------------------------------- http://www.kent.cricket.org ----------------------- Mon 01 Mar 1999 ENGLAND WORLD CUP SQUAD ANNOUNCED - Ealham selected, Headley ommitted The ECB have announced their 15-man squad for the 1999 World Cup. Mark Ealham, who was involved in the one-day Carlton and United Series Tournament, has been included in the shortlist. But Kent fans will undoubtedly be disappointed at the omission of pace-bowler Dean Headley, whose 8 wickets in the 5th Test will have been one of the high-points of his career. Kent's Matthew Fleming had also been included in the 30-man provisional squad that was announced January 16th, but he will have to be content with taking on the national side in the Kent v England World Cup warm-up match in May. The full 15 is as follows: *AJ Stewart MA Atherton ID Austin RDB Croft MA Ealham NH Fairbrother A Flintoff ARC Fraser D Gough GA Hick AJ Hollioake NV Knight AD Mullally GP Thorpe VJ Wells What do you think about the England selection? Should Headley and Fleming have been called up to represent their country, or do you think their talents are better suited to the County Championship and National League in 1999?
