Kent sign Andrew Symonds as 1999 Overseas Player
Press Release from Kent CCC issued today

Kent County Cricket Club today announced that Andrew Symonds will be 
their overseas player for the 1999 season.  Symonds, aged 23 - a 
right-hand batsman and versatile bowler - is currently enjoying a 
successful season with Queensland.

Kent Coach, John Wright, expressed his delight at Symonds' appointment:  

"I am very pleased that Andrew is joining us at Kent.  It is a great 
opportunity for him.  He is an outstanding young cricketer who has 
performed well in England before at County level.  From our point of 
view, we were looking for a player with a competitive attitude, 
availability and all-round abilities and he meets those criteria.  We 
are looking forward to his making an outstanding contribution this 
season."

Andrew will be arriving in the UK during the first week of April in 
time for the Club's first Championship match against Middlesex on 
13 April.
