Further to the news we brought you earlier 
today, Kent County Cricket Club issued 
the following Press Release this afternoon:

"Kent County Cricket Club has appointed 
Matthew Fleming as Captain of the Club for 
1999.

In greeting this appointment, Club Chairman, 
David Kemp, echoed the Committee's belief that 
Matthew's enthusiastic leadership would bring 
success to the Club. 

In paying tribute to Steve Marsh, Mr Kemp 
praised the way he had led the side over the 
last three years.  He hoped that Steve would 
continue to play a major role in the Kent side 
over the coming years."

In addition, Derek Ufton also commented on the
decision earlier this afternoon, saying that
there were many pressures on cricketers in this
day and age.  

Mr.Ufton said: "One would feel that Steve has 
done remarkably well but perhaps it is now time 
to move on".
