Play did not begin until shortly before 3 o'clock after heavy overnight rain flooded the St.Lawrence Ground outfield. Rob Turner made 51, the last man out half an hour before close of play, as Headley finished with figures of 6 for 97. In the seven overs of the Kent innings that were possible the home side lost the wicket of opener David Fulton, caught for 5.
