Carl Hooper received a standing ovation from the St.Lawrence Ground crowd as he returned to the pavillion having made 62 in his last ever innings for Kent. The West Indian all-rounder put on 105 for Matthew Walker for the 3rd wicket, Hooper passing 3,000 runs in the Sunday League and Walker 1,000 during the course of the match. Ealham and Fleming guided Kent to victory in the last four overs of the innings. The game did not begin until 1.20pm due to rain during the morning, and a heavy downpour caused a one hour interruption midway through the Somerset innings. Lathwell stayed at the crease from the start of the innings until the final ball when he was caught for 87. Ealham was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3 for 47.
