Trojans Cricket Club - Formed 1894
Trojans CC Review 2001
Trojans had to settle for seventh place, despite winning more matches than they lost. If,
however, they had won their final match against United Services, they would have finished
fourth, which indicates how closely matched most of the SPL2 teams were.
At one stage, Trojans were in peril near the foot of the table but five successive wins, which
included victories against runners-up Cove and Lymington, pulled them well clear. Of the three
matches lost to the weather, two were against Old Basing, who lost all their games.
The seam bowling attack of Paul Douglas (25 wickets), Jamie Donaldson, Tim Felstead, Tim Subnaik
and Marvin Sandiford, assisted on occasions by the promising Chris Mitchell, proved formidable,
but the batting was often brittle, with only five of 15 players averaging over 13.
Many games, both home and away, were low scoring affairs. Simon Williams (369) and Mario Mohammed
(367) headed the run-scoring charts, with Subnaik adding 333 runs to his 23-wicket haul.
