Gosport Borough Cricket Club - Formed 1966
Gosport Borough CC Review of the season 2001 (written by Tony Stares)
Gosport finished in a disappointing mid-table position after stumbling to an unexpected defeat
by Bashley (Rydal) II on a weather abridged opening day.
Four straight wins put the Borough amongst the leading pack, but an inconsistent June effectively
destroyed any faint promotion hopes. Gosport's indifferent season was illustrated by their
playing record : eight wins, seven defeats.
Ex-Burridge pair Stewart Magee (425) and Lee Wateridge (409) were the leading run-getters, but
for all-round technique the manner in which John Adams scored his 363 runs was a joy to behold.
Queenslander Nathan Collins certainly made his mark, collecting the SPL3 bowling prize for 41
wickets, in addition to 310 runs.
Collins is at Privett Park again this summer.
